Product guide
A pillar hydrant is an upright fire hydrant that stands above ground, with outlets to connect fire hoses. It is placed outside buildings, along roads, in factory yards and in large compounds, so that firefighters and trained staff can draw water for fire fighting. This one is a wet barrel type. In a wet barrel hydrant, the barrel is always full of water, and each hose outlet has its own valve. That means you can open one outlet at a time, and you can connect or change hoses without shutting off the whole hydrant. It is a good fit for warm climates, because the barrel can stay full without freezing. A typical hydrant has two 2.5 inch hose outlets and an inlet connection to the underground pipe, and some designs add a larger pumper outlet. A typical working pressure is up to 16 bar. The body is cast iron or ductile iron and is painted red.
A wet barrel hydrant keeps water in the barrel, and each outlet has its own valve. A dry barrel hydrant keeps the water below the ground, and a main valve under the ground opens to fill the barrel, which protects against freezing. In most of Pakistan, freezing is not a problem, so a wet barrel hydrant works well. In very cold areas, ask your supplier about a dry barrel type.
