Product guide
A 2-loop addressable fire alarm panel is an intelligent control panel for large buildings. It has two loops, and each loop is a 2-wire circuit that connects many addressable devices, such as smoke detectors, heat detectors, call points, sounders and modules. Every device has its own address, so the panel can show the exact location of a fire on its display, such as the floor, the room and the device name. The panel also reports a fault on a single device and keeps an event log, which helps staff and engineers. Many models have a loop that runs in a ring, so if one cable breaks, the devices are still fed from both ends. The panel includes a display, control buttons and outputs for sirens and relays, and it has a battery backup for power cuts. The number of devices per loop depends on the brand, and many panels support between about 99 and 250 devices on each loop.
Each loop can hold many devices, so a 2-loop panel suits a medium to large building. If you plan to add many devices later, or if your building has several large floors, choose a panel that has spare loop capacity or can be expanded. Also check how many devices you need, as the limit is set by the panel brand.
