Product guide
The 12kg DCP fire extinguisher is a large portable unit for places where a fire could grow quickly. It is filled with ABC dry chemical powder, which works on Class A fires (wood, paper and cloth), Class B fires (petrol, oil and paint) and Class C fires (flammable gases). It can also be used on electrically started fires. The extra powder gives you a longer discharge, about 30 seconds on common models, and a throw range of about 5 metres, so you can fight a larger fire from a safe distance. A typical rating for this size is 55A and 233B, but it differs by maker, so read the label. This size is common in factories, warehouses, fuel stores, workshops, generator rooms and large shops. Because a 12kg unit is heavy, place it where a trained person can reach it quickly.
A 6kg unit is easier to carry, and many people can use it. A 12kg unit holds twice the powder, so it works on a bigger fire and discharges for longer, but it is heavy, with a full weight of about 18kg or more. Choose 12kg for areas with a higher fire risk, such as fuel and oil, and make sure staff are trained to lift and use it safely.
