Product guide
TeSys Deca LRD relays are thermal overload relays that protect three phase motors. A motor can overheat if it runs with too much load or loses a phase. The relay detects this excess current and opens the control circuit stopping the contactor. Each relay has an adjustable setting range, so you set it to the current on the motor plate. Two trip classes are common. Class 10A suits normal starts, and class 20 suits motors with a heavy or long start. The relays are differential, so they also detect phase failure and load unbalance. Each one has 1NO and 1NC auxiliary contacts, a test function, a reset selector and stop and reset buttons. They connect straight to the bottom terminals of LC1D contactors, or mount separately with a terminal block.
Q1: How do I set the relay?
Use the current shown on the motor plate.
Q2: What does class 20 mean?
The relay allows a longer start before it trips.
Q3: Can I mount it away from the contactor?
Yes, with the LAD7B105 terminal block.
Q4: Will it trip if one phase is lost?
Yes. It is a differential relay with phase failure detection.
