Schnedier Acti9 Overvoltage Release Series – iMSU
Acti9 iMSU is an overvoltage release. It watches the voltage between phase and neutral. If the voltage gets too high, it opens the circuit breaker beside it and cuts the supply. This protects your equipment from damage. One common cause of high voltage is a broken neutral wire, which can push the voltage on a phase far above normal. The iMSU reacts to this fault. The trip time depends on how high the voltage goes. It begins at 255V and gets faster as the voltage rises, so small rises give time to recover, while large rises trip very quickly. The release is 18mm wide, which is two modules. A red indicator on the front shows the tripped position. For a three phase network with neutral, you use three iMSU units.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Why would the voltage go too high?
A broken neutral wire is a common cause.
Q2: How many do I need on a 3 phase system?
Three, one for each phase.
Q3: Why do the trip times differ?
Small rises trip slowly to avoid false trips. Large rises trip very fast.
