Product guide
TeSys GV motor circuit breakers protect motors and switch them on and off by hand. One device gives short circuit protection and overload protection, and it also works as a disconnect switch. The thermal setting is adjustable, so you set it to the motor current. The GV2 range covers motors up to 32A, or 15kW at 400V. The GV3 range covers motors up to 80A, or 45kW. The GV4 range is for larger motors. Magnetic only versions, such as the GV2L and GV3L, are used with a separate overload relay. The GV2ME has push buttons and the GV2P has a rotary handle. You can build a complete direct on line starter by joining a GV breaker to an LC1D contactor. This saves space and wiring compared with a fuse, contactor and relay.
Q1: Do I still need an overload relay?
Not with a thermal magnetic GV. Overload protection is built in. Magnetic only models need a separate relay.
Q2: What is the difference between GV2ME and GV2P?
The GV2ME has push buttons. The GV2P has a rotary handle.
Q3: How do I choose between GV2 and GV3?
Use GV2 up to 32A and GV3 up to 80A.
Q4: Can I join it to a contactor?
Yes, with a link kit.
