Product guide
The Samyang AF 24mm F1.8 FE brings together a wide 24mm view and a bright F1.8 aperture in a lens that still fits easily in one hand. At only 230g and 71.5mm long, it stays part of Samyang's compact Tiny Series while offering more light gathering power than the earlier F2.8 version. This makes it a strong choice for shooting indoors, at dusk, or under the stars, where extra light matters most. Eleven glass elements in 8 groups, including aspherical and extra-low dispersion pieces, work to keep colours accurate and edges sharp across the frame. The lens body is weather sealed, so light rain, dust and everyday knocks are less of a worry when shooting outdoors. A smooth focus ring can even double as an aperture control ring in autofocus mode, giving photographers more ways to work quickly without digging into camera menus.

The optical design behind this lens focuses on keeping the picture clean right into the corners, which matters a lot for wide angle shots where distortion and colour fringing usually show up first. Chromatic aberration stays low even wide open, so bright edges around trees or buildings don't show odd colour halos. This kind of control is a big reason the lens has become a popular pick for landscape and interior photographers who need to trust every part of the frame, not just the centre.
Q1: Is this lens good for taking photos of the night sky?
Yes, its bright F1.8 aperture and wide field of view make it a popular choice for astrophotography and other low light work.
Q2: Is this lens weather sealed?
Yes, the lens has weather sealing in key areas to protect against dust, light rain and general outdoor use.
Q3: Can the focus ring also control the aperture?
Yes, a customisable switch lets the focus ring double as an aperture control ring while shooting in autofocus mode.
Q4: How does this compare to the older F2.8 version of this lens?
This F1.8 version is about twice the length and weight of the older F2.8 lens, but it lets in noticeably more light, which helps in dim conditions.
