LK Samyang AF 18mm F2.8 Lens for Sony E

The Samyang AF 18mm F2.8 FE is one of the smallest and lightest super wide angle lenses made for Sony full frame cameras, weighing only 145g and measuring under 2 inches long. Despite its tiny size, it gives a very wide 100.1 degree view on full frame bodies, or 76.2 degrees on APS-C bodies, which is great for landscapes, interiors, architecture and night sky shots. Nine glass elements, including aspherical and high refractive index pieces, work together to keep the image sharp and clear with very little colour fringing or blur near the edges. A quiet STM motor drives the autofocus, keeping the front of the lens still while focusing, which helps a lot when using filters that need a fixed position, like polarisers. This is a simple, pocket friendly lens for anyone who wants a wide view without carrying extra weight.

Build Quality and Materials of LK Samyang AF

• Made with a metal mount and a glass-reinforced composite body to cut weight while staying strong
• Weighs only 145g and measures 63.5mm in length, small enough to slip into most bags or pockets
• Uses 9 Ultra Multicoated glass elements in 8 groups, including 3 aspherical and 2 high refractive index pieces
• Nine curved aperture blades give a soft, natural background blur when needed

A Wide View From a Tiny Lens

• Gives a full frame angle of view of 100.1 degrees, and 76.2 degrees on Sony APS-C bodies
• Suits landscapes, tight interiors, architecture and night sky photography where a wide frame helps
• On APS-C cameras, it behaves like a 27mm lens, useful for everyday and travel shots too

Autofocus That Doesn't Shift the Front Element

The internal focusing design used in this lens means the front glass does not spin or move in and out while focusing. This might sound like a small detail, but it makes a real difference for anyone using screw-in filters like polarisers or ND filters, since the filter's position stays fixed no matter how the lens focuses. The STM motor itself is quiet and smooth, which also helps when recording video, since the microphone won't pick up focus motor noise.

Compatibility With Sony Cameras

• Built for Sony E mount, working on both full frame and APS-C Sony bodies
• Focal length becomes roughly 27mm equivalent when mounted on an APS-C Sony camera
• Takes 58mm screw-in filters directly on the front element

Close Focusing for Creative Shots

• Minimum focus distance of 0.25 metres, useful for close foreground details in wide shots
• Maximum magnification ratio of 0.09x
