The Samyang AF 50mm F1.4 FE II is a compact, lightweight full-frame standard prime lens designed for Sony FE-mount mirrorless cameras. It combines the versatile 50mm focal length with a bright F1.4 maximum aperture, making it an excellent choice for portraits, everyday photography, street scenes, events and low-light shooting.
As the second generation of Samyang's AF 50mm F1.4 lens, the FE II features an updated optical design, improved autofocus performance, refined handling and a modern exterior. Its 11-element optical construction includes 2 U-ASP, 3 HR and 1 ED elements, while the large F1.4 aperture helps produce strong subject separation and smooth background blur.
The 50mm focal length provides a versatile standard perspective that works well across many types of photography. On a full-frame Sony camera, the lens provides a 45.7° angle of view, allowing photographers to capture subjects with a natural-looking perspective while still providing enough environmental context.
The large aperture allows more light to reach the camera sensor, making the lens useful for shooting in low-light environments. It also provides greater control over depth of field, helping photographers create strong subject separation and attractive background blur. Samyang designed the lens with two ultra-precision aspherical elements to help produce refined and smooth bokeh alongside the bright F1.4 aperture.

The combination of a 50mm focal length, F1.4 aperture and 9-blade diaphragm provides photographers with extensive control over background rendering. At wider apertures, the lens can produce shallow depth of field that helps isolate the subject from the background. The 9-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth aperture shape and attractive out-of-focus rendering.
The lens offers a minimum focusing distance of 0.40m (1.31ft) and a 0.16x maximum magnification ratio.
This allows photographers to move relatively close to their subjects while maintaining the characteristic 50mm perspective. It can be useful for portraits, food, products, flowers and everyday detail shots.
