Product guide
The LK Samyang AF 18mm F2.8 FE is a compact and lightweight ultra-wide-angle autofocus lens designed for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras. With its 18mm focal length and impressive 100.1° field of view, it is well suited to landscape photography, architecture, interiors, travel, cityscapes and night-sky photography.
Despite its wide perspective, the lens weighs only 145g and measures 60.5mm in length, making it an excellent option for photographers who want to keep their camera setup small and portable. Its F2.8 maximum aperture, advanced optical construction and Linear STM autofocus motor provide a practical combination of brightness, portability and responsive focusing for both photography and video.
The F2.8 maximum aperture allows more light to reach the sensor, making the lens useful for shooting in challenging lighting conditions. The wide aperture can also help create a more visually separated subject when working at closer focusing distances while maintaining the expansive perspective associated with an 18mm lens.
The AF 18mm F2.8 FE features a 9-element optical construction arranged in 8 groups.
The optical design incorporates:
With a minimum focusing distance of 0.25m (0.82ft), the lens can be used relatively close to subjects while maintaining its ultra-wide perspective. This is useful for creative foreground compositions, environmental portraits, food photography, travel details and objects where you want the subject to appear prominent while retaining plenty of background context
The 18mm focal length and 100.1° full-frame viewing angle make this lens particularly suitable for capturing expansive landscapes. It allows photographers to include foreground elements, wide horizons and large environmental scenes within a single frame.
The F2.8 aperture combined with the 18mm focal length makes this lens a useful option for night-sky photography and other low-light scenes. Its wide field of view allows photographers to include a large section of the sky and foreground within the frame.
