Product guide
The Nikon D850 was built to prove that a DSLR could capture both extreme detail and real speed at the same time, and years after its release it still does exactly that. A 45.7 megapixel back-illuminated sensor, with no optical low pass filter, pulls out fine detail that suits landscape, studio and commercial work, while a native ISO floor of 64 gives wide dynamic range for pushing shadows and highlights in editing. Despite that huge resolution, the camera still shoots at 7 frames per second, or 9fps with an optional battery grip, so it does not force a choice between detail and speed the way some high resolution cameras do. A 153 point autofocus system, including 99 cross type sensors, keeps focus locked on moving subjects too.

Q1: Does this camera come with a lens?
No, this is the body only; it uses the Nikon F mount, so an F-mount lens needs to be purchased separately.
Q2: Is 7fps fast enough for sports and action?
Yes, especially combined with the optional battery grip, which raises the rate to 9fps, though dedicated sports cameras like the Nikon Z9 shoot considerably faster.
Q3: Can this DSLR record 4K video?
Yes, it records 4K UHD video internally, alongside Full HD at higher frame rates for slow motion.
Q4: Why does the D850 use ISO 64 as its lowest setting?
Its sensor is tuned for maximum dynamic range starting at ISO 64, rather than the ISO 100 floor used on many other cameras, which helps recover detail in bright highlights.
