Product guide
The NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.8 S sits at one of the most useful focal lengths in photography, wide enough to include the scene around a subject, yet natural enough to avoid the stretched, distorted look of an ultra wide lens. Its bright f/1.8 aperture lets in plenty of light for handheld shooting after dark, while giving enough background blur to separate a subject from a busy background when needed. Nine groups of 11 elements are employed, including three aspherical and two extra low dispersion pieces, to ensure images are sharp with minimal color fringing. Nikon's Nano Crystal Coat also helps control flare when shooting toward bright light sources. Autofocus is operated by a near silent stepping motor making this a comfortable lens for both photography and video work.

Yes, it suits a wide range of subjects, from street scenes and travel photos to environmental portraits, without the strong distortion of an ultra-wide lens.
Q2: Is there image stabilization in this lens?
No, it uses the in-body stabilization of the camera body, not the stabilization built into the lens.
Q3: How close can this lens focus?
It can focus as close as 0.25 metres, giving a maximum magnification of about 0.19x.
Q4: Is this lens heavier than older 35mm lenses for Nikon DSLRs?
It is slightly heavier than the older AF-S 35mm f/1.8G DSLR lens, though it remains light overall at 370g.
