Product guide
3-meter (approx. 10 feet) USB-C cable, the technical specifications vary dramatically depending on the category of the cable. Due to physics and signal attenuation over longer distances, most passive 3m USB-C cables are limited to USB 2.0 data speeds, though specialized active cables can achieve higher performance. This cable is also available on the Sensato Trade platform with cash on delivery.
Power transmission is less affected by length than data transmission, though longer cables still experience a slight voltage drop.
• Standard Power: Most standard 3m cables support up to 60W (20V / 3A).
• High Power: High-end 3m cables equipped with an E-Marker chip can handle 100W (20V / 5A) or even 240W Extended Power Range (EPR) for charging heavy-duty laptops.
This is where the 3-meter length has the greatest impact on performance.
• USB 2.0 (Most Common): The vast majority of 3m cables on the market transfer data at just 480 Mbps. This is because the USB-IF architecture safely allows passive USB 2.0 signals to travel up to 4–5 meters without degradation.
• USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Rare for Passive): Caps out at 5 Gbps. While the technical limit for a passive USB 3.0/3.2 Gen 1 signal is roughly 3 meters, these cables must be significantly thicker to prevent data corruption.
• USB 3.2 Gen 2 / USB4 / Thunderbolt (Active Only): To achieve 10 Gbps, 40 Gbps, or 80 Gbps over a 3-meter distance, you must purchase a specialized Active USB-C cable. Passive high-speed cables degrade completely after 0.8 to 1 meter. Active cables contain built-in microchips to boost the signal across the 3m length.
