Narada NPFC 48V Telecom LFP Battery (Replace VRLA with Lithium)

Narada’s NPFC series is a family of 48V lithium iron phosphate batteries that the company built for telecom base stations, outside plant and backup power, and it is sold in sizes from 10Ah up to 200Ah across different distributors. It is designed as a drop-in replacement for lead acid battery strings, so a site can switch to lithium without changing its rectifiers: the batteries are compatible with standard telecom rectifiers and are listed as 40 to 60 percent lighter than sealed lead acid batteries, depending on the size. LiFePO4 chemistry is one of the safest lithium types and works across high and low temperatures, and the series supports discharge rates of 1C and higher. For monitoring, the battery management system talks over RS232 or RS485, and two levels of remote alarm are available through dry contacts.

Why Replace VRLA With Lithium?

Lead acid batteries are heavy, take up a lot of space and usually need replacing sooner. A lithium battery of the same energy is much lighter, which makes a rooftop or tower installation easier, and it needs less floor area in a shelter. Because the NPFC series is designed to work with standard telecom rectifiers, the swap does not require changing the power plant. The up-front price is higher, but fewer replacements, less maintenance and lower weight can balance that over the life of the site, so a cost comparison across the whole lifetime is worth doing.

Narada NPFC 48V Telecom LFP Battery - Compatibility and Installation Guide

• Check that your rectifier can be set to lithium charge voltages
• Confirm the exact capacity and rack size you need before ordering
• Use correctly sized cables and check polarity
• Wire the RS232 or RS485 communication and dry contact alarms as shown in the manual
• Install indoors in a dry, ventilated place
• Installation should be done by a qualified installer
