Growatt SPH5000 5kW Hybrid Inverter - Single Phase (2 MPPT)

The Growatt SPH5000 is a single phase hybrid inverter rated at 5kW, built for homes and small businesses that want more than a plain grid-tied system. A hybrid inverter manages three sources at once: your solar panels, a battery and the utility grid, and it decides moment by moment which one should feed your loads. With two MPPT inputs you can connect two separate panel strings, for example one on an east facing roof and one on a west facing roof, and each string is tracked on its own so one shaded string does not drag the other down. Growatt lists smart load management through a dry contact, which lets the inverter switch a heavy load such as a water heater or pump on and off depending on how much solar power is available. It is suited to new installations and also to adding battery storage to a solar system you already own.

Who Should Buy This Inverter?

• Homes with a single phase supply that want solar plus battery backup
• Owners of an existing solar system who plan to add a battery later
• Families who want to keep a fridge, fans and lights running during load shedding
• Small shops and offices with a moderate daytime load
• Buyers with two roof sections facing different directions who can use the two MPPT inputs
• Anyone who wants to control a heavy appliance automatically with a dry contact

How to Choose the Right Size

A 5kW inverter can supply up to 5,000 watts at the same moment. The easiest way to check if that is enough is to read the wattage label on every appliance you plan to run together, add them up and leave some headroom for motors, which draw more when they start. If your combined load regularly goes beyond 5kW, look at a larger inverter, because the battery decides how long you can run, but the inverter decides how much you can run at once. Also confirm that your battery matches the inverter’s battery voltage before you order.

Growatt Hybrid Inverter - Compatibility and Installation Guide

• Check the Growatt battery compatibility list before choosing a battery
• Confirm that your supply is single phase, since this is a single phase inverter
• Use cables of the correct size and check polarity on every DC connection
• Mount it in a shaded, ventilated spot as described in the installation manual
• Wire the dry contact only as shown in the manual
• Installation should be done by a qualified solar installer
